Post Election Trauma………………final comment.
Well the election is over for FOUR whole years. I think I will keep my opinions to myself on politics as it seems even New Zealand has been wooed by Obama Madness, my own family and friends. And sharing my humble thoughts and insights has created energetic debate.
The funny thing is though, New Zealand literally voted Obama out by voting in John Keys. America went left and NZ went right!
So for those who don’t know……….Obama = Democrat = Labour Party = Helen Clark.
So in being wooed by Obama you have just wished on America another 4 years of Helen Clarke and liberal (extremely) government.
So there’s a dichotomy for me there with peoples feelings in New Zealand.
In NZ I have never been aware of media bias re partisan politics as I have been here whether its newspaper or the ‘idiot box’.
This election has shown the power of the media. Unprecedented things have happened, and been documented. The media decided who they wanted……….and then the people.
It has been disturbing and I few in NZ will completely understand that. I have been here thru it.
It disturbs me that reporting of the election seems to have had a bias in NZ too.
It also shows me the anti America sentiment that exists out there because of the Bush administration.
Scary as well. I like George Bush and have always thought history might vindicate him. He’s not perfect, and neither will Obama be.
Bush’s policies helped keep America safe for the last 7 years.
George Bush is the guy everyone loves to hate. I don’t. I’d love to know why and how the world is being gripped by such liberalism, squeeze someone enough and they all bleat out the same blah blah blah without really looking into it or HAVING and informed opinion of their own instead of a popularist view.
I would also like to point out, the last four years has been a Democrat controlled Congress and Senate and much of the present financial woes of America, though they are laid at Bush’s feet can squarely be laid at the feet of the Democratic party. And that is no BS.
It all a game, who ever speaks loudest, looks best, has the most allure…………..gets believed.
So I want to leave this phase now.
Obama will have to come up with the goods. We will see what happens top America, and who the media will feed on after the honeymoon is over.
And we will all re adjust hopefully our perspectives in the light of truth. Or will blindness continue.
There is something serious happening in the world. I think we are on the edge of massive changes, liberal government and destabilisation in USA.
Why do I say this?
It has just been so apparent the entrancement of people this election with rhetoric and personalities. Its like everyone shoots the same bullets in discussion or more like one sided debate.
Its not cool to be conservative or have absolute values or any kind of moral values that are anything like biblical.
This video by a liberal satirical publication kinda sums it up.

Its funny BUT its kinda true too.
Its been an amazing thing to have lived thru this time. Back in 1977 I did a paper on American Politics @ Auckland Uni, with Professor Barry Gustafson. SoI knew a bit, a smidgee. Now I have learned masses, being here. Friends say there has never been an election like this for unprecedented happeniong above and beyond the historic aspect of who won.
I doubt I can leave it alone forever but I have observed graciousness and humility in defeat over here, and the reality of democracy in getting behind the person of the president and wanting him to succeed even if ideologically you are poles apart.
I respect that.
I am seeing some of the deeper things here of late and I am glad that I haven’t been a day tripper and have spent so much time in one place……..looked, listened, learned and debated.
As well as huge weaknesses America has deep down some huge strengths.

Opinion polls out today… leave George W Bush as ‘Worst’ US president in History…
Seems mass murderers cant always get away with it huh?
ah well at least he’s a christian
P.S i voted for Helen… and am very sad she didnt get back in!
Well Brad……………last I heard it was Jimmy Carter……..he was a Democrat and a Christian too. So you could’ve thrown stones at him too.
You seem to have forgotten the murders of the Kurds and Sadamm Hussiens (sp) opponents.
As far as I know GB didn’t get people killed for that kind of thing.
He has been a good man tryn to fight for and protect his country…don’t worry I can hear you laughing.
Your so young
its not your fault
theres so much for you to go thru
so the song says
I think I will just leave you to it.
The times I can remember in my life when I was so critical of Christians at every turn……..was usually when I was not being true to who I should or could be…………I dunno where you are at Brad in your life.
But you seem to have issues with so called bubble christians and turned to politics and liberals to save the world rather than to the grace of God.
I have known your family for a long time……and have said some strong things to you
perhaps i shouldn’t have
and I have no doubt other words about me may be in your ears.
I am going to leave all this debating for time to work its course.
Glad you voted for Helen……but just like America needed a change……so did NZ.
Appreciate your comments.
NZ needed a change and it needed it desperately. Not just for a change sake but for good valid reasons. NZ must now be one of the most liberal countries in the world and I believe devinly that a stop has been put on further liberal changes.
It is good that we are able to verbalise our thoughts into discussion. You have been over there and seen and heard what we haven’t and I do agree and believe alot in your perspective. I so much like and admire President Bush too. From this distance of NZ I have tried to get ‘inside the man and his decisions’. I think he has been in the ‘power seat’ at a most difficult time and has not wavered on the difficult discisions he has had to make. I think wars are the saddest thing and they are not of my choice as tools of correction, but I believe to retaliate with war were not easy choices for Bush to make either. Along with Rooservelt and Kennedy, we can put Bush as well, in their decisions to stand up to the dominant evil forces they and the world faced.
There has been alot of obvious emotion surrounding the elections and the voting in of Obama. Though he is from the liberal side of government I don’t think that is what his total make up is about. As you say time will tell but I do believe and think I understand why the Blacks are so happy and rejoicing about their Black President.
It is not all about any liberal beliefs or policies for them, it is about what they identify with in him. His colour, his culture, his pathway through life, his successes as a black man, their memory and knowledge of their past, there reasons for being in America and how they come to be there, the past opressions that they bare, their lack of being privileged, the cultural barriers that they still feel and experience, etc etc. They see him off their chance of being equal, giving them status and hope, visions to believe in and a reason to feel proud .
He is there for everybody, black or white, and he has not defined about anyone race, but I believe that the blacks see him not for any of the Democrat liberal policies but for the reasons I have mentioned above.
On our TV in NZ we saw film of the emotions of many of the blacks when the Obama victory was announced. It was emotions with tears amid the rejoicing and it emotionally charged and moved me to see that.
So I see Obama’s victory in two lights. One is that the Democrat Party represents all the liberalism that you comment about Graham and there is much and present past evidence of that that cannot be denied, and the other is of what his victory has brought to the black people in their sense of status and a belonging as true citizens of the United States Of America.
